Nuestra Historia

Our organization was founded as the Carolina Hispanic Association also known as CHispA by Columbian Student Catherine Lindsay in the fall of 1990. Early events included Latin American dance classes/performances and lectures. CHispA’s presence grew rapidly as the Latinx population on campus grew and led to the creation of several subgroups.

In August 2018, CHispA underwent a rebrand to what is now Mi Pueblo! The name change came with a goal of reflecting our community’s vision to be more modern and inclusive. We at Mi Pueblo believe that “Mi Pueblo” encompasses our sense of community and unity. The rebrand brought about the logo we all know today, created and designed by Elizabeth Ordoñez and Holly Dinh.
